Aquaponics: The BNHS Way

The Philippines, as one of the developing countries faces many problems in its uncontrolled populations. These include providing jobs, shelter, clothing, and food security. The increasing conversion of agricultural land into residential/ commercial areas is considered a threat to food security thereby decreasing arable area that should have been intended for food production. Hunger continues to millions of people around the world.

The government through the Department of Agriculture is looking for solutions to solve food shortage, aquaponics is one of the possible solutions to the problem.

BNHS-INFANTA personnel enjoyed the experience in making aquaponics in their respective home. This is a combination of aquaculture which involves growing of fish and other aquatic animals and hydroponics which involves growing plants without soil.

This activity really helps us to sustain food for our family.
